Synodoss Legal

Terms & Conditions

Last updated September 17, 2026

Please read these Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) and our Privacy Policy carefully. They govern your access to the Synodoss website, mobile application, shared profile, Group and Event pages, and related features (together, the “Service”).

Section 19 explains how disputes should be raised and resolved, including rules for individual claims, small-claims proceedings, urgent court relief, and any arbitration the parties agree or are required to use. Mandatory rights available where you live are not limited by these Terms.

1. Agreement to these Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. If you use Synodoss on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization.

2. Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect, why we process it, when it may be disclosed, and the choices and rights available to you.

3. Changes to the Terms or Service

We may revise these Terms as the Service or applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when reasonably required. Your continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not accept a revision, you must stop using the Service.

Synodoss may add, modify, test, suspend, or discontinue any feature or part of the Service as it evolves. We will provide notice when applicable law requires it, but cannot promise that every feature will remain available.

4. Eligibility, accounts, and verification

Synodoss is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to use the Service; there is no version of the Service for anyone younger. Synodoss may require an invitation or a place on a waitlist, a supported sign-in account such as Sign in with Apple, and a profile photo that clearly shows your own face. Provide accurate information, keep one account and keep it for yourself only, protect your credentials, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.

You may not use the Service if you have been convicted of, or are required to register for, a sexual or violent offence, or if Synodoss has previously removed you from the Service.

You may use the Service only when applicable law permits you to do so. You represent that you are not subject to a trade restriction, embargo, sanctions list, or other legal prohibition that prevents your use of the Service.

5. Feedback

If you send ideas, suggestions, or other feedback about Synodoss, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or compensation. This does not transfer ownership of content that you upload to the Service.

6. Your content

Ownership and permission

You retain ownership of photos, videos, text, profile details, prompts and answers, messages, Group and Event pages, links, and other material you submit (“User Content”). You grant Synodoss a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, resize, transcode, display, and transmit User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service according to your settings. This license permits Synodoss to use contractors and service providers for those limited purposes and ends when the content is deleted, subject to the exceptions below. Synodoss does not claim ownership of User Content.

Your responsibility

You must hold all rights and permissions needed for your User Content, including permission to depict or identify other people. You are responsible for what you choose to show on your profile and for the join and visibility settings of the Groups and Events you host. A recipient may copy or forward shared material beyond Synodoss’s control.

You represent that your User Content, your submission of it, and Synodoss’s permitted processing of it will not infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights; violate law; or breach an obligation you owe to another person. You remain solely responsible for User Content and its accuracy.

Removal

You may delete User Content using available controls or by contacting us. Copies may remain temporarily in backups, security records, or systems where immediate deletion is not technically practicable. Copies may also remain with people who received, copied, or independently retained the content. To the extent permitted by law, Synodoss is not responsible for a third party’s continued possession or redistribution of deleted content.

Synodoss content

Software, interfaces, designs, text, graphics, trademarks, and other material supplied by Synodoss or its licensors are protected by intellectual property law. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, Synodoss and its licensors reserve all rights in that material.

7. Meeting other people

Synodoss helps people find Groups, Events, and one another; it does not organize, supervise, or take part in what happens between them. Groups and Events are created and run by the people who host them. A host is responsible for the gathering they describe, including its venue, its safety, any price or entry condition they state, and its compliance with local law.

Synodoss does not run criminal background checks and does not verify what people say about themselves. Any check we do perform is a safeguard and not a guarantee. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other people, online and in person. Use judgment: meet in public places, tell someone you trust where you are going, arrange your own way home, and never send money or financial details to someone you met through the Service.

A place you share in a chat, and the location of an Event you join, are shown to the other people in that conversation or gathering. Share only what you are comfortable with them knowing.

8. Plans and purchases

Parts of the Service are free. Synodoss Plus and Synodoss Pro are optional auto-renewing subscriptions sold through Apple’s App Store. The price, the length of each period, and what a plan includes are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel it at any time in your Apple Account settings. Deleting your Synodoss account, or removing the app, does not cancel a subscription.

Purchases are processed by Apple, and any refund is handled by Apple under its own rules. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and a partly used period is not credited. We may change what a plan includes, or its price for future periods; a price change takes effect only as the App Store’s rules allow.

A plan may include benefits in VOWI, a separate app, when you link the two accounts. Those benefits are provided under VOWI’s own terms, and they end when the plan ends or the accounts are unlinked.

9. VOWI

VOWI is a separate app with its own terms and privacy policy. Linking a VOWI account to Synodoss is optional, though some features, such as joining an Event, need one. When you link, the two services exchange what the link needs — account-link identifiers, plan status, and the VOWI items you choose to show on Synodoss — as described in the Privacy Policy. You can unlink at any time.

10. App license and app marketplaces

Subject to these Terms, Synodoss grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license with no right to sublicense, to install and use the app on devices you own or control for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not sublicense, rent, lend, resell, distribute, copy, modify, create derivative works from, make the app available to multiple users, or reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it except where applicable law expressly permits it.

If you obtain the app through a third-party app marketplace, that marketplace is not responsible for operating or supporting Synodoss and is not a party to these Terms. The marketplace operator and its affiliates may enforce applicable app-license provisions as third-party beneficiaries. Marketplace rules and your device controls also apply.

To the extent permitted by applicable marketplace rules and law, the marketplace has no obligation to provide maintenance, support, warranties, or responses to product, regulatory, consumer-protection, or intellectual property claims concerning the app. Any refund or other marketplace remedy is limited to what its rules require. Synodoss remains responsible for obligations that applicable law assigns to Synodoss.

You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app and with all export, import, trade-control, and sanctions laws that apply to you.

11. Prohibited conduct and enforcement

You may not, or help another person to:

  • violate law or another person’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • use the Service while under 18, or help anyone under 18 to use it;
  • present a profile that is not you: impersonate a person, misstate your age or identity, use another person’s photos, or run more than one account;
  • upload material that is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, exploitative, hateful, or malicious;
  • upload sexually explicit content, non-consensual intimate material, or any sexual content involving minors;
  • harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, or endanger another person, online or at a Group or Event;
  • ask other members for money, advertise or sell goods or services without our written consent, or use the Service for escorting, prostitution, or trafficking;
  • share another person’s private information, messages, photos, or location without that person’s permission;
  • host or promote a gathering that is unlawful or unsafe, or misdescribe a gathering to get people to attend;
  • access non-public systems or accounts, test vulnerabilities, or bypass access and security controls;
  • send spam or malware, interfere with the Service, or impose an unreasonable infrastructure load;
  • scrape, crawl, harvest, index, or bulk-download profiles, contact details, or content without permission;
  • frame, mirror, resell, or commercially exploit the Service or Synodoss branding without written consent; or
  • remove proprietary notices or reverse engineer Service software except where law permits it.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report any profile, Group, Event, or message from the item itself, and you can block a person so that they no longer reach you. We review reports promptly, normally within 24 hours: content that breaks the rules above is removed, and the account behind it may be suspended or removed. If you think a decision was wrong, write to us and a person will look again.

We may investigate suspected violations and remove content or restrict access when reasonably necessary to operate the Service, enforce these Terms, protect users, or comply with law. We are not required to monitor every account or item of User Content. We may preserve relevant information and cooperate with lawful requests from authorities where required or reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, and the Service.

12. Copyright and intellectual property

Synodoss and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, including software, design, trademarks, branding, and non-user content. If you believe material on Synodoss infringes your copyright or other rights, email support@synodoss.com with your contact details, the protected work, the disputed material and location, a statement of your good-faith belief, and enough information for us to respond. A notice must be accurate and submitted by the rights holder or an authorized representative. We may remove or restrict disputed material and may terminate repeat infringers where appropriate.

13. Third-party services and resources

The Service may depend on or link to third-party providers for sign-in, authentication, maps and directions, communications, hosting, database, storage, security, purchases, and related infrastructure. Third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices. Synodoss does not control and is not responsible for external services, content, availability, or transactions.

Links and integrations are provided for convenience. You accept the risks of using external resources and are responsible for reviewing their terms, privacy practices, fees, and suitability before using them.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Synodoss or delete your account at any time by using available controls or contacting support@synodoss.com. We may suspend, restrict, or end access, remove content, or discontinue the Service when you violate these Terms, create a legal or security risk, misuse the Service, or when continued operation is not reasonably possible. Where permitted by law, urgent protective action may occur without advance notice. An account removed for a violation is not owed a refund for a period already purchased, except where the law requires one.

Terms that by their nature should survive termination remain effective, including content permissions needed for retained copies, ownership, enforcement, disclaimers, indemnity, liability limits, dispute terms, and general contract provisions.

15. Warranty disclaimers

Synodoss is a way to find people and gatherings, not a promise of what you will find. Synodoss does not guarantee that you will find a Group, an Event, or a person you connect with, and is not responsible for the conduct of any member, host, or guest, on or off the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Synodoss disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement, as well as warranties arising from a course of dealing or trade usage. We do not promise that the Service will meet your requirements or be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or permanently available.

Synodoss does not guarantee the quality, accuracy, timeliness, truthfulness, completeness, or reliability of User Content or other information available through the Service, including what a profile, a Group, or an Event says about itself. Rights and warranties that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.

16. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you will indemnify, defend, and hold Synodoss and its operators, directors, officers, personnel, agents, and service providers harmless from third-party claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable legal or accounting costs arising from your access to or use of the Service, your User Content, a Group or Event you host, your violation of another person’s rights, or your material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by Synodoss’s own unlawful conduct.

17. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Synodoss and its providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of content, data, profits, goodwill, business opportunity, or substitute-service costs arising from the Service, or for the conduct of other people you meet through it. Mandatory consumer rights and liability that cannot legally be limited remain unaffected.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Synodoss’s total aggregate liability arising from the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Synodoss for the Service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD 100. These exclusions and limits apply regardless of the legal theory asserted and even if a remedy does not fully compensate a loss. They do not apply where applicable law forbids their application.

18. Applicable law and forum

These Terms are governed by the law applicable to Synodoss’s operation and your use of the Service, without regard to conflict-of-law rules and without limiting mandatory consumer rights available where you live. Subject to Section 19, a dispute that cannot be resolved informally may be submitted to a court or other tribunal with lawful jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms creates jurisdiction where none otherwise exists.

19. Dispute resolution

Informal resolution

Before starting a formal claim, please contact support@synodoss.com and describe the issue, the relief requested, and relevant account details. The parties will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days unless urgent circumstances require faster action.

Individual proceedings

To the extent permitted by law, each party may bring a claim only in its individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or member in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. If this restriction is unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim may proceed only in the forum authorized by applicable law.

Small claims, court relief, and arbitration

Either party may use an eligible small-claims procedure. Either party may also seek temporary, injunctive, or equitable relief from a court to protect intellectual property, privacy, safety, or system security. Any arbitration will occur only where the parties agree to it or a separate binding rule requires it. The applicable consumer rules and law will govern the arbitrator, procedure, location, fees, and available individual relief.

Severability

If a dispute-resolution provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent required, and the remaining provisions will continue unless applicable law requires otherwise.

20. General terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and Synodoss about the Service and replace prior understandings about the same subject. If a provision cannot be enforced, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without Synodoss’s written consent, except where applicable law gives you that right. Synodoss may transfer these Terms as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or operation of the Service, subject to applicable law. These Terms bind permitted successors and assigns.

Notices from Synodoss may be delivered through the Service or to the email address associated with your account and are effective when sent or posted, as applicable. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. A waiver must be in writing and applies only to the specific instance for which it is given. Rights and remedies are cumulative unless these Terms or applicable law state otherwise.
